HWP Insurance Marks the 5th Year of Summer Intern Program – Welcome 2017 Interns Kate & Leighton!

June 7, 2017 – HWP Insurance is proud to celebrate the fifth anniversary of our summer internship program.  We are excited to welcome Leighton Bjorn and Kate Branson to our staff for a summer of learning and fun in the insurance industry.  Leighton is from Davidsonville, Maryland and just completed her sophomore year at the University of South Carolina.  Kate is from Germantown, Maryland and also just completed her sophomore year at St. Joseph’s University.  Leighton and Kate are both studying risk management at their respective universities.  Leighton is working in the commercial and personal lines divisions and Kate is working in the employee benefits division.

HWP Insurance began the internship program in 2013 as a way to provide practical, hands-on experience to college students studying risk management and related fields.  “Our internship program offers an all-encompassing look into the insurance industry – we provide exposure to client relations, account marketing, agency branding, carrier relations and lead generation,” stated company President, Mike Cauley.

HWP insurance recognizes the need to expose young people to the multiple levels of opportunity available in the insurance industry.  “The overall industry workforce is aging and needs to establish a pipeline of talented youth.  The insurance industry will benefit greatly from the fresh ideas and innovative thinking that the younger generation provide,” stated company CEO, Ed Bonifant.
